Syngene International has appointed Siddharth Mittal as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026. Mittal succeeds Peter Bains, who completed his tenure as Managing Director and CEO on June 30, 2026.
Mittal joins the global CRDMO from Biocon Limited, where he most recently served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. During his 13 years at Biocon, he held the role of Chief Financial Officer before becoming CEO, helping shape the company’s long-term strategy, expand its global commercial presence, secure regulatory approvals, and commercialize its GLP-1 portfolio in international markets.
According to Syngene, Mittal’s appointment supports the company’s next phase of growth as customer expectations and industry requirements continue to evolve. The company said his experience in commercial operations, strategic partnerships, and business transformation will help strengthen its contract manufacturing and research services while enhancing execution and customer focus.
“I am honoured to take on the role of Managing Director and CEO of Syngene. My immediate priority is to sharpen our commercial edge, strengthen delivery excellence and bring greater focus and discipline to execution across the business.”
Siddharth Mittal
Syngene said the leadership transition follows a period in which the company established scientific capabilities and customer relationships globally, with the new CEO expected to focus on commercial execution, customer fulfillment, and long-term growth.
