The new site enhances ten23’s capacity for the sterile filling of vials, syringes, and cartridges, catering to both clinical and commercial demands.
The facility features two manufacturing lines: Line 2, designed for large-scale commercial and clinical filling of ready-to-use (RTU) packaging, and Line 3, which focuses on bulk vial filling. With a combined annual output of 30 to 70 million units, the VIVA2® facility integrates cutting-edge automation and robotics, ensuring precision in filling and adherence to stringent quality standards. According to the company, the lines allow for headspace-free filling and avoid container-to-container contact, enhancing product safety.
The opening also highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability. The VIVA2® facility is powered by solar panels, generating surplus energy for the grid while meeting its operational demands. This environmentally-conscious design aligns with the firm’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
The launch event, held on 23rd September, welcomed local politicians, healthcare industry representatives, and collaboration partners. Prof. Dr. Hanns-Christian Mahler, CEO of ten23 health, expressed enthusiasm for the new facility, stating: “This is the start of something great, and VIVA2’s capabilities for sterile manufacturing will be a key opportunity to supply essential medicines to patients.”
