Touchlight has announced the launch of the EnClose™ Cell-free dbDNA™ Synthesis Kit in collaboration with New England Biolabs, introducing a benchtop solution for rapid enzymatic production of its proprietary doggybone DNA™ (dbDNA™). The kit is designed to provide researchers with a cell-free alternative to traditional plasmid DNA manufacturing.
The new solution addresses challenges associated with conventional plasmid production, which typically involves bacterial fermentation and extended timelines. The EnClose kit enables the generation of closed-ended double-stranded DNA in a single day, supporting faster development workflows for nucleic acid-based therapies.
The kit integrates enzymatic technologies from New England Biolabs with Touchlight’s dbDNA platform. It allows researchers to produce high-purity DNA templates without bacterial sequences or antibiotic resistance genes. According to the companies, this supports applications including AAV and lentiviral vector production, nonviral gene therapy, mRNA therapeutics, and gene editing systems.
