TriLink BioTechnologies Opens State-of-the-Art mRNA Facility

• TriLink BioTechnologies has opened a new cGMP mRNA manufacturing facility in San Diego. The facility is designed to support late-phase drug developers from Phase 2 to commercialisation.

TriLink BioTechnologies, a Maravai LifeSciences company and global provider of life science reagents and services, has announced the opening of its new cGMP mRNA manufacturing facility in San Diego. The facility, spanning 32,000 square feet, has been specifically designed to support late-phase drug developers from Phase 2 to commercialisation via TriLink’s mRNA manufacturing capabilities.

The new facility is located in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego and features individual Grade C cleanroom suites for mRNA manufacturing. It boasts increased mRNA capacity, ranging from 1g to over 100g per batch, and offers comprehensive in-house analytical services. The facility also includes laboratory space for on-site quality control testing.

Kevin Lynch, Vice President & General Manager of TriLink’s GMP Operations, expressed his optimism about the facility’s potential impact. He said, “This facility is expected to help move the needle for life-saving breakthroughs in mRNA-therapeutics. The high-quality manufacture of mRNA drug substances is critical to ensuring the safety and efficacy of this new class of medicines for patients.”

The grand opening of the facility was celebrated on April 17 with a ribbon cutting, an expert-led panel discussion, and site tours. The event was attended by company and site leadership and industry guests.
