Nucleus RadioPharma, a company specialising in the development and manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals, has announced the successful closure of a Series A extension funding round. The investment was led by AstraZeneca, a new investor, joining forces with existing stakeholders such as GE Healthcare and Mayo Clinic. This financial boost aims to increase the global accessibility of targeted radiotherapies and theranostics.
Theranostics, a fusion of diagnostics and therapeutics, offers a personalized approach to cancer treatment. It employs radiotracers that selectively target cancer cells, allowing for precise imaging and therapy. This method is particularly effective for metastatic cancers, offering a more focused treatment with reduced side effects.
The CEO of Nucleus RadioPharma, Charles S. Conroy, commented on the significance of the funding, “The investment will significantly enhance our ability to manufacture these innovative treatments on a larger scale, offering new hope to patients with limited treatment options.”
