AmbioPharm, Inc. has announced plans to expand its operations in Aiken County, South Carolina, through a $118.96 million investment expected to create 202 new jobs. The peptide manufacturer and developer said the project will add a new modular manufacturing facility at its existing campus in North Augusta.
Founded in 2005, AmbioPharm develops and manufactures peptide-based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The company produces peptide APIs and new chemical entities under current good manufacturing practice (GMP) regulations and supports customers from early-stage development through commercial production.
The expansion will include construction of a new manufacturing building at 1024 Dittman Court in North Augusta. According to the company, the facility will provide commercial-scale GMP manufacturing capabilities and support solid-phase peptide synthesis, liquid-phase peptide synthesis, and hybrid manufacturing approaches.
The new facility will also feature semi-automated production systems and advanced solvent delivery infrastructure intended to increase manufacturing efficiency and capacity. Operations at the expanded site are expected to begin by the end of 2027.
