Enzene Biosciences has announced the launch of its new Drug Discovery Division. This move is set to enhance the company’s contract service offerings and address the increasing demands of the biopharmaceutical sector.
The newly established division will be housed within Enzene’s Pune facility, with cutting-edge discovery laboratories expected to be fully operational by July. The company plans to further expand these facilities within the year, reflecting its commitment to growth and innovation.
Enzene’s decision to introduce this division aligns with its strategy to become a fully integrated contract manufacturing organization (CDMO). By combining its expertise in bioprocessing, product development, and commercialization with the new discovery services, Enzene is poised to offer a seamless transition from discovery to commercialization for biopharmaceutical innovators.
“There is a global shortage of biology services, and our clients are increasingly looking to collaborate with us much earlier in the discovery phase to expedite their progress to IND and beyond,”
said Himanshu Gadgil, CEO of Enzene Biosciences.
“We anticipate even greater demand for these services in the coming year as the resurgence in biotech funding leads to more targets entering discovery – with contract R&D empowering them to advance more targets simultaneously.”
The expansion into drug discovery is complemented by Enzene’s upcoming biologics manufacturing site in the U.S., which boasts a fully-connected continuous manufacturing platform. The New Jersey site represents a $50 million investment and is expected to create over 300 jobs, further cementing Enzene’s position as a key player in the CDMO space.
