Matica Biotechnology, a Texas-based CDMO specializing in cell and gene therapy, has entered into a collaboration with Bondwell Technologies to advance next-generation bioprocessing technologies for life sciences applications. Under the agreement, Matica Bio will provide development expertise to support Bondwell’s manufacturing readiness and future commercialization objectives.
Bondwell is developing proprietary protein technologies with potential applications across bioprocessing and advanced life sciences. The collaboration is intended to provide development support as Bondwell works toward manufacturing readiness and potential commercialization of its technologies.
The companies are both based in Texas, according to the announcement. Matica Bio CEO Paul Kim said the collaboration reflects the importance of partnerships among Texas biotechnology companies as the state develops its life sciences ecosystem.
“A new technology does not get adopted because the company that built it says it works. It gets adopted when a manufacturer runs it on their own equipment and reports what happened. Having development expertise nearby makes it practical to build the technology in Texas.”

The collaboration positions Matica Bio’s contract manufacturing and development expertise alongside Bondwell’s protein technologies. The announcement did not disclose specific development timelines, financial terms, or individual products covered by the collaboration.
