SCHOTT Pharma Inaugurates Major Ampoule Manufacturing Facility in Serbia

• SCHOTT Pharma has inaugurated a new ampoule manufacturing facility in Jagodina, Serbia, expected to generate around 180 jobs by the end of 2025.

• The plant represents a double-digit million-euro investment and will be the largest ampoule manufacturing site in Europe.

SCHOTT Pharma has officially opened its new glass ampoule production facility in Jagodina, Serbia, marking a key expansion in its global manufacturing network. The inauguration took place on 10 April 2025, following the groundbreaking in December 2023.

The company’s investment, described as a double-digit million-euro commitment, is aimed at boosting capacity and regional supply security for injectable drug containment solutions. Approximately 180 jobs are expected to be created at the site by the end of 2025.

The new facility will manufacture ampoules used to store injectable medications such as analgesics, anti-inflammatories, and anesthetics. According to SCHOTT Pharma, over 40% of injectable drugs globally are stored in glass ampoules, underscoring the critical role of this format in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

“As other European-based ampoule manufacturers are closing their doors, we can offer our regional customers a clear long-term perspective on how to secure their local supply chain,” said Andreas Reisse, CEO of SCHOTT Pharma.

The site is equipped with modern manufacturing technologies and inspection systems, supporting current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). It adds to the company’s network of 10 ampoule production sites worldwide and expands SCHOTT Pharma’s reach to 15 countries.

This development reflects the company’s continued commitment to advancing high-quality drug containment solutions and reinforces its position as a key CDMO player in the pharmaceutical contract manufacturing space.
