Tjoapack Expands U.S. and EU Packaging Operations to Meet Rising Biologics Demand

  • Tjoapack is expanding its contract packaging and cold chain storage services in the U.S. and Netherlands, including new GMP-qualified lines and increased pallet capacity.
  • The Clinton, Tennessee site will add packaging lines for vials and auto-injectors, while the Etten-Leur facility will grow its pre-filled syringe services and cold storage.

Tjoapack, a contract packaging organisation (CPO) serving the pharmaceutical sector, has announced an expansion of its packaging and cold chain services in the United States and the Netherlands. The initiative aims to meet growing demand for biologics and sterile injectables, while improving turnaround times and supply chain resilience.

At its facility in Clinton, Tennessee, the company is installing two new packaging lines. A high-speed vial line, capable of processing up to 20 million vials per year, is set for commissioning in Q2 2025. A semi-automated line for auto-injectors will follow, with qualification scheduled for Q3 2025.

Tjoapack has also increased its cold chain capacity to support temperature-sensitive products. The Clinton site now includes 160 validated pallet spaces for 2–8°C storage. In Europe, its Etten-Leur facility will expand from 36 to 120 pallet spaces by June 2025.

Further developments at the Etten-Leur site include the commercial launch of a fully automated pre-filled syringe (PFS) packaging line. This line, which has already completed its first client project, supports syringe assembly, safety device application, and ancillary component insertion.

“These upgrades directly address the accelerating needs of our clients in the biologics and sterile injectable space,” said Dexter Tjoa, CEO of Tjoapack.

All new infrastructure complies with global GMP standards. The operational cold storage is already validated, and the two new packaging lines will undergo GMP qualification ahead of their 2025 launch.
