Hovione has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at its East Windsor, New Jersey, campus, adding two GMP-ready, commercial-scale PSD-3 spray dryers and doubling the company’s U.S. spray drying capacity. The facility, named 89 Twin Rivers, expands Hovione’s integrated development and manufacturing platform covering drug substance, spray drying and drug product manufacturing.
The new facility operates under the East Windsor campus’ existing FDA registration and harmonized quality system. According to Hovione, this integrated setup is intended to reduce technology transfer, facilitate scale-up and provide greater manufacturing continuity. The company uses its spray drying platform to develop amorphous solid dispersions for poorly soluble drug ingredients.
The opening completes Hovione’s current $100 million U.S. investment cycle and marks the first major milestone in the next phase of development for its East Windsor campus. The new facility will employ approximately 80 people. Hovione said it plans to continue expanding the campus over the next five to 10 years, including a planned 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on approximately 15 acres of adjacent property.
The planned expansion is expected to support additional laboratories, commercial-scale spray drying and drug product manufacturing. Hovione said customers can co-invest in the planned development to gain priority access to its proprietary platforms, engineering know-how and capital deployment.

The company said the East Windsor expansion is also part of its international strategy to develop autonomous but harmonized manufacturing sites across North America, Europe and Asia, supporting regionalized supply and dual-site manufacturing strategies.
