- The $5 million investment includes expanded laboratory space, new equipment, and facility upgrades to support fully integrated biopharmaceutical drug programs.
Abzena, a CDMO specialising in complex biologics and bioconjugates, has unveiled a significant expansion at its Bristol, PA bioconjugate development and cGMP manufacturing site. The expansion includes increased laboratory space, new equipment acquisitions, and upgrades to the existing facility.
As part of its expansion, Abzena has invested in five state-of-the-art Waters Arc Premier LC Systems and two ACQUITY Premier Chromatography Systems. These investments ensure consistent and reliable product analysis from the earliest development stages to cGMP release and stability testing.
To further enhance the site’s analytical capabilities, Abzena has also invested in a Sartorius Hipersep® Flowdrive Pilot System. This system operates at pressures of up to 100 bars and has a higher pressure and flow rate capacity. It facilitates rapid purification processes, allowing for efficient isolation of desired compounds from impurities in clinical manufacturing batches.
Ian Glassford, Vice President and Bristol Site Head at Abzena, highlighted the impact of these investments, stating, “The integration of the Waters Arc Premier and ACQUITY Premier Chromatography systems alongside the Sartorius Hipersep® Flowdrive represents a quantum leap in our operational capabilities.” He further emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting customer programs and creating a conducive workplace environment for employees.
