- Charles River Laboratories and Medigen Vaccine Biologics are collaborating on characterization and validation of the virus seed bank for Medigen’s next-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine.
- Charles River will provide analytical and CMC support, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), to help advance the vaccine toward IND-enabling studies and future clinical development.
Charles River Laboratories International and Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp. (MVC) are collaborating on the characterization and validation of the virus seed bank for MVC’s next-generation multivalent enterovirus vaccine. Charles River will use its analytical platforms, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), to support Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) activities for the vaccine program.
The collaboration builds on MVC’s development of its ENVACGEN Enterovirus 71 Vaccine, which has been approved in Taiwan and Vietnam. MVC selected Charles River as a strategic partner for the next-generation vaccine program, drawing on the company’s capabilities in virology, biologics testing, non-clinical development and regulatory science.
The companies will combine Charles River’s biologics testing and non-clinical development capabilities with MVC’s vaccine research expertise. The collaboration is intended to support vaccine development, global regulatory readiness and IND-enabling non-clinical studies, with the companies aiming to generate data for IND applications and future global clinical development.
Charles River said its NGS testing capabilities will support the characterization and testing of advanced therapeutics while meeting regulatory requirements for accuracy, reliability and GMP compliance. The companies also plan to explore opportunities to apply the technologies and collaboration model to additional vaccine programs targeting infectious diseases and unmet medical needs.
