Hovione has announced that Dr. Jean Luc Herbeaux will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer effective May 21, 2026, for personal reasons. The company said Dr. Herbeaux will remain with Hovione until September 30, 2026, to support the leadership transition process.
The company stated that its Board of Directors has begun a succession process to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer. In the interim, Hovione has appointed António Almeida, currently Chief Financial Officer, and Dr. Marco Gil, currently Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, as co-Chief Executive Officers effective May 21, 2026.
According to Hovione, both executives have been long-standing members of the company’s Global Leadership Team and have played central roles in its operations and growth strategy. The company said the interim leadership structure is intended to ensure continuity in business operations and strategic execution during the transition period.
