ProBio, a global CDMO focused on cell and gene therapies, has opened its Cell and Gene Therapy Center of Excellence at the Princeton West Innovation Campus in Hopewell, New Jersey. The 128,000 sq ft GMP facility is purpose-built for the production of plasmid DNA and viral vectors, including adeno-associated virus (AAV) and lentiviral vector (LVV) platforms.
Set to bring more than 110 high-skilled roles to the area, the site will serve as ProBio’s North American hub and will support process development, scale-up, and clinical-stage manufacturing. GMP-grade AAV production is expected to begin in Q3 2025, followed by LVV services in Q1 2026.
Local and industry leaders marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and site tour. Hopewell Township’s Mayor, Courtney Peters-Manning, welcomed the company, noting that the community is pleased to host a facility focused on advanced therapies and job creation. She described Hopewell as “a wonderful place to live and work” and said the company would contribute both innovation and employment.
Speaking on behalf of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, John Coelho said the launch of a fully integrated contract development and manufacturing organisation would reinforce the region’s leadership in biopharmaceutical production. He highlighted the facility’s proximity to precision medical centres and its capacity to support global clinical trial manufacturing as key advantages in accelerating patient access to novel treatments.
ProBio CEO Allen Guo commented: “This is not just a new facility. It is a beacon of hope for patients waiting for cures.” The company’s investment forms part of a broader strategy to build transatlantic biomanufacturing resilience and support the growing demand for advanced therapy production across North America and Europe.
