Merck Launches M-Trust Platform to Enhance Product Traceability and Security

  • Merck has launched the beta version of M-Trust, a cyber-physical trust platform aimed at solving issues of product safety, traceability, and counterfeiting.
  • The platform integrates crypto anchor technology and Web 3.0 to enhance product security, traceability, and digital quality control processes.

Merck, a science and technology company, has introduced the beta version of its innovative M-Trust platform, designed to enhance product traceability, safety, and authenticity. The platform aims to address the growing challenges faced by industries in ensuring product quality and compliance with tightening regulations.

M-Trust is a first-to-market, cyber-physical trust platform powered by advanced Web 3.0 technology. It enables organizations to digitally link physical products with their digital identities using crypto anchor technologies. This link improves traceability throughout the supply chain, while also enhancing the ability to verify product authenticity.

The platform allows businesses to integrate digital twins, which provide enhanced product security, and digitize quality control processes. By improving machine-to-machine interactions and empowering human capabilities in quality assurance, M-Trust reduces errors and enhances efficiency. Additionally, it supports the creation of smart contracts to automate agreements and verify data within the supply chain.

“The platform is designed to help businesses remain competitive in an increasingly connected world,” said Laura Matz, Chief Science & Technology Officer of Merck. “By addressing the growing need for safety and transparency, M-Trust empowers companies to meet the highest standards in product quality while supporting future business models.”

Built in-house at Merck, M-Trust is supported by the company’s expertise in product quality and security. The platform’s software is compatible with existing workflows and is adaptable to various security needs, ensuring flexibility in meeting evolving technologies and regulatory requirements, such as the EU Digital Product Passport.
