RoosterBio and Thermo Fisher Partner to Accelerate Cell Therapy Manufacturing

  • RoosterBio and Thermo Fisher Scientific have entered a collaboration to advance the manufacturing of hMSC and exosome therapies.
  • The partnership combines RoosterBio’s cell and exosome technologies with Thermo Fisher’s GMP contract manufacturing capabilities.

RoosterBio, Inc., a supplier of human mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (hMSCs), media, and bioprocess services, has announced a collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific to accelerate the development and manufacturing of cell and exosome therapies targeting degenerative diseases.

The partnership aims to provide a unified solution for biopharmaceutical companies developing hMSC-based therapeutics. RoosterBio will contribute its portfolio of hMSC and exosome products, processes, and analytics. Thermo Fisher will deliver GMP-grade contract manufacturing services, including upstream cell expansion, exosome purification, and drug product manufacturing.

The collaboration is intended to shorten development timelines for clinical trial materials. As part of the agreement, companies will be able to access both RoosterBio’s cell therapy technologies and Thermo Fisher’s global GMP infrastructure.

“Thermo Fisher has an exceptional track record of success in the manufacture of clinical and commercial cell and gene therapies,” said Tim Kelly, CEO of RoosterBio. “Through this collaboration, we will deliver that comprehensive solution to our customers.”

Thermo Fisher stated the collaboration aligns with its broader strategy to support CDMO services in advanced therapies. Ben Castro, Vice President and General Manager, Large Molecule, pharma services, said the company is “excited to work with the team to expand our Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services.”

RoosterBio emphasized that its hMSC sourcing and manufacturing processes follow strict bioethical and quality standards, reinforcing safety and consistency in the development of advanced therapeutic products.
