Singota Solutions Expands in Europe with New Facility in Balerna, Switzerland

• Singota Solutions has opened a new 100,000-square-foot facility in Balerna, Switzerland, enhancing its global supply chain and logistics capabilities.

• The GDP-certified site offers temperature-controlled storage, an open bonded warehouse designation, and import/export authorisation.

Singota Solutions, a provider of pharmaceutical development, cGMP sterile drug product manufacturing, and supply chain services, has announced the opening of its new facility in Balerna, Switzerland. This expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to providing advanced, GDP-compliant storage and logistics solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.

Strategically located near the Swiss-Italian border, the Balerna facility benefits from access to extensive European rail and road transportation networks. The site is the company’s third in Europe, following the 2019 opening of its Basel, Switzerland, location and the 2024 launch of a site in Rovello Porro, Italy. Singota’s North American headquarters have been in Bloomington, Indiana, since 2005.

The 100,000-square-foot facility spans three floors and incorporates a rooftop solar power system designed to supplement the regional electricity grid, enhancing sustainability and business continuity. The facility currently offers 4,000 pallet positions for storage at +15-25°C, with plans to add capacity for -20°C and +5°C storage by late 2025.

Key features of the Balerna site include its status as an open bonded warehouse, allowing streamlined handling of regulated and high-value goods while ensuring compliance and cost efficiency. The facility has also received GDP certification from the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products (Swissmedic) and is authorised for the import and export of life science products.
